Published on April 19, 2019

There are plenty of different reasons why someone would get a tattoo. It could be to make a statement, show that you care about someone, be a work of art that you enjoy having been apart of you, and much more. Tattoos are permanent, and unfortunately for some people, you may not always like what you get, especially after some time has passed.

Fortunately, there’s hope for those who want to get rid of those unwanted tattoos. That hope comes in the form of laser tattoo removal.

Why Do People Get Tattoos?

There is no one reason to get a tattoo. To every other individual, the reason is different. While one person may like art, others may have it as a symbol of something to remember. Some even wonder why people take the pain to get something permanent itched into the skin.

Tattooing the skin is an extension of ancient rituals that dates back to 3100 BCE. Tattoos are used as social markers rather than a fashion statement. Tattoos identify a particular family or tribe and where they stand in the social structure.

Tattoos serve as a mark of affiliation or subculture. They’re commonly used by people are apart of the same group. The image usually indicates something of significance to the individuals involved.

To some, tattooing is of personal significance. Tattoos honoring the loved ones, commemorating the birth of a child, loved one, or as a tribute to those we lost.

Some people like to express their individuality. Tattoos become their biggest appeal which differentiates them from others. Some also just like the design as tattoos serve as a permanent fashion accessory.

Laser Tattoo Removal

There are a lot of reasons for wanting to remove a tattoo. Though tattoos are considered to be permanent, it can be removed partially or completely when using lasers. The pulse of light energy that the lasers emit, passes through the top layer of the skin and absorbed by the tattoo ink.

This energy quickly heats up and breaks down the tattoo ink into tiny fragments. The immune system absorbs and clears the tiny fragments from the body. The surrounding skin is left unharmed.

There are different lasers that target different colors of tattoo ink. The laser to be used and the amount of treatment needed depends on the size, color, and location of the tattoo, and the ability of the skin to heal. Black and other dark colored ink can be easily removed with a laser. Light colors like yellow are difficult to remove, though not impossible.

The state-of-the-art laser tattoo removal treatment does not leave any scars behind. In most cases, the tattoo is completely removed with several treatment sessions. To minimize the discomfort during the laser tattoo removal treatment, the dermatologist will use an anesthetic.

Many patients report itching or mild pain after the treatment process. Some experience redness, minor swelling and blistering around the treated area. The side effects of laser tattoo removal treatment are minimal as it is non-invasive.
