Show Your Beautiful Chin With Kybella!

At Jenesis Lipoplasty and Laser in San Jose, we offer KYBELLA treatments for patients with stubborn fat around their chin and jawline. KYBELLA injections offer an easy way to get rid of a double chin without the need for surgery.

WHAT IS KYBELLA?

KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that reduces fat cells under the chin to improve your profile-whether you have a moderate amount of chin fullness or a bit more.

GOOD CANDIDATES FOR KYBELLA

Do you have some extra fullness beneath your chin? Maybe it’s something you’ve had your whole life, something that developed over the years, or something you noticed recently. This is a condition called submental fullness, which some people refer to as “double chin.”

Both men and women may be affected by submental fullness or “double chin”, which can be caused by: weight gain, genetics, or aging. You don’t have to be overweight to have fullness under your chin. And sometimes, no matter how much you exercise or diet, the condition may not go away.

You’re not alone. Per a 2015 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), 67% of people surveyed said they are bothered by the fat beneath their chin.

If you’re interested in a nonsurgical way to reduce fullness beneath your chin, KYBELLA may be right for you. KYBELLA is a first-of-its-kind injectable treatment for adults with submental fullness that reduces fat cells under the chin to improve your profile.

KYBELLA may be right for you if:

  • You’re bothered (unhappy, self-conscious, embarrassed) by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness
  • You feel the condition makes you look order or heavier than you actually are
  • You don’t want to have surgery
  • You eat well and exercise but submental fullness does not go away

HOW KYBELLA WORKS

The active ingredient in KYBELLA is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH KYBELLA

Before starting treatment, Dr. Jane will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if KYBELLA is right for you. Then, Dr. Jane will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

KYBELLA TREATMENT COST

The total cost of your KYBELLA treatment will be based on the number of treatments needed to attain your desired results. Financing options are available. Questions regarding price, payment options, and financing can be addressed during the consultation process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How many KYBELLA treatment sessions will I need?

A. Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Dr. Jane will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each KYBELLA treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.

Q. How long will results last?

When injected into fat under the chin, KYBELLA causes the reduction of fat cells. Once reduced, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, further treatment may not be needed. However, further treatment is necessary if you gain your weight. Other remaining submental fat cells may gain their volume due to extra calorie.

Q. Will I need time to recover?

After KYBELLA treatment, you will likely have some swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin. Be sure to inform Dr. Jane or her staffs if you develop an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, or difficulty swallowing.

Q. Is KYBELLA right for me?

With Dr. Jane’s recommendation, you can decide if KYBELLA is right for you. If you’re bothered by fullness under your chin and wish to avoid surgery, ask Dr. Jane about KYBELLA. Dr. Jane can also offer you many alternative procedures for your desired results and downtime.

Q. What are the possible side effects of KYBELLA?

KYEBELLA can cause serious side effects, including nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness (experienced by 4 out of 100 people in clinical studies) and trouble swallowing (experienced by 2 out of 100 people in clinical studies). In clinical studies, nerve injury in the jaw resolves on its own in a median of 44 days (range of 1 to 298 days), and trouble swallowing resolved on its own in a median of 3 days (range of 1 to 81 days).

The most common side effects occur in the treatment area are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness. Side effects are usually temporary and often resolve on their own.

Q. What should I tell Dr. Jane before treatment?

Before receiving KYBELLA, tell Dr. Jane about all your medical conditions, including if you:

  • have had or plan to have surgery on your face neck or chin
  • have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin
  • have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area
  • have had or have trouble swallowing
  • have bleeding problems
  • are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA will harm your unborn baby)
  • are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA passes into your breast milk; talk to your pediatrician about the best way to feed your baby if you receive KYBELLA)
