Q. How does SmartLipoTM laser sculpting work?

A. The procedure is commonly performed under local and tumescent anesthesia. A laser fiber is introduced through a handpiece and detachable cannula. The cannula is then inserted through a 1 to 2 mm incision in the skin and into fat pockets. As the fiber tip comes in contact with the fat cells it ruptures the cell membranes and releases the fatty oil from the fat cells. This end product may then be aspirated from the site.

Q. What are the benefits of Smartlipo?

A. Some of the benefits are:

1. It treats unwanted fat and fat tissue irregularities.

2. It promotes tissue coagulation resulting in skin tissue tightening.

3. It treats flabby or lax skin and areas of high vascularity.

A. Conventional liposuction is meant to be used for large areas of fat removal. The SmartLipo is best for small pockets of resistant fat, as well as for skin tightening. Traditional liposuction does not tighten the skin.

Q. What is the recovery period?

A. Laser body sculpting is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed with local anesthesia. Most people are able to return to work in a couple of days and can start exercising after 2 weeks.

Q. How many treatments are required?

A. Typically, only one treatment is required. Results can be seen within a week, with continued improvement over 3 to 6 months.*
