Ultherapy is an amazing non-surgical treatment that can be used to tighten and tone your skin and restore its youthful appearance. Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with ease. At Jenesis Lipoplasty, we offer Ultherapy in San Jose.
ULTHERAPY RECOVERY AND RESULTS
Ultherapy® is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for the face that uses ultrasound energy and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin without any downtime. The FDA-cleared device used in the procedure utilizes the safe, time-tested energy of ultrasound to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin—including those typically addressed in a surgical facelift—without disturbing the surface of the skin.
The ultrasound image on the viewing screen allows Dr. Jane to see precisely at what level the energy is being delivered. The focused sound waves create targeted heating of the deep layers of the face and neck that have lost their elasticity and firmness over time. Because the sound waves pass directly sagging is tightened without disrupting the skin.
ULTHERAPY RECOVERY AND RESULTS
There will be virtually no recovery time following your Ultherapy in San Jose. You should be able to resume most of your normal activities right away. There may be some redness, swelling, and tenderness but these issues should subside quickly.
Following an Ultherapy® treatment, improvements are visible immediately with some contraction and firming but the building of new collagen occurs gradually over the two to three months that follow treatment. The combination of contraction of the tissues and new collagen formation can counter the effects of gravity on the skin and achieve significant lifting results.* Although the results do not duplicate those of surgery, the visible improvements of Ultherapy® make it a compelling option for those who are not ready to undergo a more extensive procedure.

I went with my best friend to get a Silk Peel Facial with kojic acid for my birthday. My skin was soft and renewed. I can’t stop looking at it and touching it! The staff is so nice and helpful there. I really love the office atmosphere too- very comfortable, relaxing, and modern. I had a chance to meet Dr. Jane as well. She was a delight.

Frequently Asked Questions
A. Ultherapy is a non-surgical face and neck treatment that uses ultrasound to actually lift and tone loose or sagging skin without any downtime.
A. Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.
A. Ultherapy uses tried-and-true ultrasound technology, which has received FDA clearance for use in this new type of medical procedure to lift skin on the brow, neck, and under chin.
A. Ultherapy deposits focused ultrasound energy below the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s creation of new collagen. As a result, the skin will actually begin to lift and tone over time.
A. Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firmed, toned and elastic. As we age, collagen loses its elasticity and its ability to stand up to the effects of gravity that pull the skin downward. Ultherapy jump starts a natural repair process that produces fresh, new collagen.
A. No. Unlike a facelift, Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that addresses the skin and support layers below it, but doesn’t entail cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.
A. Ultherapy is an “uplift”, not a “facelift.” While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a facelift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
A. Lasers typically address issues in the superficial layers of the skin (e.g. fine lines, wrinkles, pigment changes). Ultherapy addresses the deep skin layer and the foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery that lifts and lends support to the skin. Therefore, the two technologies are quite complementary!
A. The procedure has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and over 100,000 treatments have been performed safely worldwide. In addition, ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.
A. A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. Sagging skin on the eyelids, on the neck or under the chin, for instance, are often the first signs of “maturing” skin. Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.
While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical facelift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically. There are also younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
A. A full face and neck treatment take 60-90 minutes, and a partial face or brow lift treatment can take around 30 minutes–neither with any downtime.
A. Ultherapy addresses mild to moderate loose or sagging skin on the face and neck. Specifically, by reconditioning and renewing the skin from within, Ultherapy will lift the brow, which in turn reduces excess skin on the lids, opens up the eyes, and gives a more refreshed look overall. Ultherapy is also used to lift and tighten sagging skin on the neck and under the chin, addressing the “turkey gobbler” and “double chin,” which many patients are trying to eliminate.
A. Patients may enjoy some initial effect but the ultimate lifting and toning will take place over 2-3 months, as tired collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. As this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can appear up to 6 months following a procedure.*
Q. How long do results last?
A. Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh young collagen after a year following the procedure, but the skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.*
*Individual results may vary.
A. The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment (depending on how much laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and collagen-building process). Your physician will be able to recommend the right treatment plan for your needs.
A. Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure and as such, there is no downtime. You can be able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take.
A. Yes. What you are feeling during the treatment is actually tiny amounts of focused ultrasound energy being deposited below the surface of the skin.
A. Patients have noted there can be some discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being delivered, but it is temporary and a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated.
A. Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, but there can be some discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This is temporary and a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come!
Exciting advancements have recently been implemented, including a new-and-improved treatment approach that is proven to increase patient comfort with the procedure without impacting efficacy. Of course, your practitioner will consult with you prior to your skin treatment to make your experience as pleasant as possible.
A. There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment, and a small percentage of patients may have slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. There is always the possibility for other less common post-procedural effects, which your practitioner will review with you.
