Cold Laser & Low Level Treatment Technology
The following is another example of scientific proof of the Erchonia lasers effect on adipocytes. All of the SEM, TEM, MRI and all other research of this website was done using an Erchonia laser.
The research represented below was done in the US using an Erchonia laser and shows time released photography of one fat cell and its contents being emptied. Please note the cell is still alive. Erchonia only uses its own research to prove its patent pending applications.
Zerona is the first non-invasive body contouring procedure to effectively remove excess fat without the negative side effects associated with surgical methods. Zerona utilizes the same cold laser technology developed by Erchonia, which has been shown to emulsify fat and allow it to move to interstitial space. Although this technology was originally utilized to help assist tumescent liposuction procedures, it was found that the cold laser treatment alone helped patients to reduce inches from their waist, hip and thighs.
The cold laser technology behind the Zerona procedure was shown to exclusively release the cellular contents of fat cells while leaving the capillaries and other cells within the interstitial space intact. The release of the fat cell contents is the result of the disruption of the cell’s membrane. This membrane disruption, called a transitory pore, is the result of low-level laser stimulation.
Prior to laser exposure, fat cells have a regular, cluster shape, as seen in Figure 4. Within minutes of low level laser exposure, fat cells begin to develop transitory pores as indicated by arrows in Figures 6-9. This pore allows the evacuation of the cell’s contents into extracellular space (see Figure 7). Once the contents of the fat cell have been emptied (Fig. 10), they are released into interstitial space where it can be passed through the body during its normal course of detoxification.
Through a double blind, randomized, multi-site and placebo-controlled study, the Zerona procedure is proven to be an effective non-invasive and body contouring procedure. On average, patients lost on average 3.64 inches from the circumference of their waist, hip and thighs, whereas the placebo group only lost an average of a half of an inch.
The Zerona cold lasers provide patients with a safer alternative to surgical procedures, which can result in bruising, swelling, and damage to other tissues. There is no need to wear bandages with Zerona and since there is no pain, there is no need for anesthesia. Unlike other non-invasive approaches, Zerona low-level lasers do not rely on heating tissue, which can cause discomfort. There is no downtime, so patients can resume their normal activities immediately.
ZERONA® is a non-invasive body contouring procedure using the Erchonia® Laser Scanner. The multi-site clinical trial conducted by Erchonia® to validate the process focused on the abdomen, hips and thighs. The Zerona low-level laser therapy is approved for use on these target areas. Most doctors’ offices have the patient lie on a comfortable table for 20 minutes on each side while the five lasers are applied to the target areas simultaneously.
Thousands have tried this procedure, and have lost an average of 3.64 inches around the waist. Imagine going from a large to a medium, or a medium to a small, just by relaxing for forty minutes, a few times a week.
For a noninvasive, alternative medical solution to the traditional fat removal procedures and surgeries, consider use of the ZERONA® laser procedure. Contact your doctor for more information, and be sure to return to us as we continue to make many more advances in the field in the coming months and years.
A. Through clinical studies it has been demonstrated that the Zerona® low level laser stimulates the fat cell to emulsify (liquefy) the fat within the cell. Then the liquefied fat moves from inside the cell through a temporary pore formed in the cell membrane to outside the cell where it is in the interstitial space until absorbed by the lymphatic system. This results in millions of fat cells becoming smaller so inches are reduced off the waist, hips and thighs. The fat cells are not injured in any way by this process.
A. You can expect 40 minutes to relax, read or do absolutely nothing. The Zerona® treatment is completely painless. There is no heat or any sensation whatsoever while being treated. Each treatment you will be met by your physician or technician who will position the laser at the desired areas of the body, he/she will step out for 20 minutes while the front of your body is treated and then will return to reset for the backside of your body for an additional 20 minutes. After you are done you can get back to your normal activities immediately with absolutely no downtime, nor pain, swelling or any discomfort. This is a symptom –free process except for losing unwanted inches.
A. It is not recommended that you miss an appointment. Prior to starting the Zerona® treatment, it is important that you are committed to the recommended lifestyle protocol which includes at least 6 treatments, every other day for 40 minutes and not to exceed 72 hours between treatments. If more than 72 hours intervenes, some of the fat may be uptaken by the fat cells again.
A. Liposuction is an invasive procedure that removes the entire area of fat cells from deposits beneath the skin using a hollow stainless steel tube (called a cannula) with the assistance of a powerful vacuum. Liposuction can be accomplished either with the use of general anesthesia, or with IV sedation, or totally by local anesthesia. In contrast, the Zerona® treatment is a 100% non-invasive that uses a low level laser applied externally to stimulate the fat cell and emulsify and release fat. There is no use of anesthesia, nor any pain, gels, creams, numbing agents, needles and no downtime.
A. The Zerona® laser is the only completely safe and effective non-invasive treatment for body slimming on the market today. There is no possibility of injury. No technician will be pushing on you or using any device against your body. You simply lay beneath the Zerona® lights.
A. Absolutely ZERO downtime. During the treatment you will feel no discomfort, no anesthesia will be used and you can assume normal activities immediately following each treatment.
A. No. During the 2 week treatment period you can continue your normal activities. It is strongly recommended that you commit to and follow the treatment protocol: stay hydrated (8-10 glasses of water a day), continue to eat healthy and exercise (walk at least 30 minutes a day) and abstain from alcohol and caffeine. Alcohol and caffeine interfere with the lymphatic process to remove fat and metabolize it which can decrease your results.
A. The Zerona® treatment was proven effective in a double-blind clinical trial on the waist, hips and thighs where localized fat deposits exist that are resistant to diet and exercise.
A. No, Zerona® treatments are considered elective and are not covered by insurance.
A. Yes, there is no risk involved in using the Zerona® low-level laser therapy and it is considered a safe alternative to invasive procedures such as tumescent liposuction and lipodissolve and other non-invasive devices like the Accent, VelaShape, and Thermage ,which rely on heating the tissue and can cause discomfort. None of these have the proven data showing how fat cell size is reduced like the Zerona®. The Zerona® treatment is 100% non-invasive and causes no bruising, scaring and zero downtime. During the treatment you will feel no discomfort, no anesthesia will be used and you can assume normal activities immediately following each treatment.
A. Yes, with two exceptions. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, Zerona® should not be used. Additionally, if you have a pacemaker, this treatment may not be for you. There are no known detrimental risks but potential unknown risks may exist. Zerona® may not be as effective on patients with diabetes or thyroid disorders where the metabolic system is potentially impaired.
A. No. The treatment process is completely non-invasive and there are no side effects.
A. The Zerona® has been used in studies since 2008 and has been used by physicians in practice since early 2009. The same Erchonia® Low Level Laser technology has been used to safely assist with tumescent liposuction since 2001 as it is proven to cause fat to be released from fat cells immediately prior to liposuction surgery. From this important experience, the Zerona® technique was developed for effective, totally non-invasive body slimming.
A. Yes, with the Zerona® treatment and by following the recommended guidelines for success, we saw an average loss of 3.64 inches reported in our clinical trial on the waist, hips, and thighs.*
